Volunteer at the Library PDF Print

Volunteers are a vital part of the Vernon Area Public Library District. They range from individuals such as junior volunteers and adult volunteers, to organized groups such as the Board of Library Trustees and the Friends of the Library. All of the work that these volunteers perform not only helps to enhance the image of the library but also helps to define the library's role within the community and maintain the standards of service that our library is known for.

The library is currently seeking the following volunteers:

Adopt-A-Shelf Volunteers
Adopt-A-Shelf Volunteers are responsible for making sure that books are on their assigned shelves in proper order within a certain area of our collection. Once trained, volunteers may work at their own pace and are free to come in to work any time the library is open. If a volunteer prefers to work within a specific section of our collection, we will try to accommodate him/her. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old and be able to file alphabetically and numerically. Some reaching, bending, and lifting is necessary.

Individuals interested in volunteering should call the library at 847-634-3650 or stop by the Patron Services Desk for an application.
