What are you thankful for this fall? I’m thankful for lazy weekend walks with my family and our dog, Melvil Dewey. Bright autumn afternoons, filled with an array of brilliant colors and the laughter of children. The sound of crisp brown leaves crunching under my feet. Hay rides, campfires, s’mores, and of course, a good ghost story. I am also very thankful for libraries, my favorite place to find all sorts of great ghost stories, mysteries, thrillers and much more.
I may be just a little biased, but the VAPLD staff is among the best read readers and researchers in the state! With a collection of over 300,000 items, our library offers a wide selection of great stories in a variety of formats: DVDs, audio bookson CD and downloadable audio books that you can listen to on your mp3 player or iPod; downloadable e-books that can be read on your cell phone or a digital reader; as well as stories in the traditional print formats, including large print books and even giant-sized picture books for children. While we are always thankful to see you at the library, many of our resources are available, and downloadable, at our website (www.vapld.info). As you leafthrough this newsletter, you will learn about many exciting programs, services and resources. I hope that you will take the time this fall to check out all that our library has to offer you online and in person.
Happy Reading, Cindy
